The problem

Church communications has a weekly horizon. Messages, ministries, channels, and deadlines converge on the same gatherings, and someone has to keep them coherent.

When I was leading that work, the hard part was planning. Who owned the message. Where the work lived. How a team knew what was going out, and when it had to be ready. The teams were capable, and they still needed a shared way to plan.

General project tools could hold tasks. They were not built for the way a church plans its communication.

The hard part was a shared plan.

What I decided to build

Communicate is a communications planning platform for churches. It grew out of that specific friction, and out of a desire to give other teams a tool that fits the work.

I co-founded the company to take a problem I knew firsthand and make it useful beyond my own staff. The product is part of a larger interest: helping churches work, create, and communicate with more clarity. It sits with the creative work.

The public product, and the details of how it works today, live on Communicate's own site. Features change. The reason for building it has stayed steady. Churches communicate better when the plan is shared, visible, and connected to the people doing the work.

A problem from ministry became a product other churches can use.
