For about a decade I led worship at Compass Christian Church in Colleyville, and then continued there in creative work.

Compass Christian Church
The season
I served Compass Christian Church in Colleyville for about a decade. The first part of that time was leading worship. Later, in the same church, I moved into creative work, with a wider responsibility for how Compass communicated. Those years were planning, making, and following through inside the ordinary life of the congregation.
That season is where I learned how plans actually behave: what happens to a good idea on a Thursday, what a team needs from a leader, and what breaks when the system is a person's memory.
A lot of what I trust now was learned there, by being responsible for the work week after week.
What it gave the later work
Doxology and Communicate both grew out of Compass. The church I serve now, and the product I helped build, are clearer because of problems I had already met. Calendars. Ownership. The gap between a good idea on Monday and what a congregation actually experiences.
